The Liverpool Sporting Dinner is a favourite event of ours – raising money for two amazing organisations – Lords Taverners and the Dallaglio Foundation. We returned once again to Liverpool’s prestigious Rum Warehouse at the Titanic Hotel to stage another evening of fundraising fun.
The event was hosted by celebrity presenter and auctioneer Jonny Gould and featured none other than Sir Michael Parkinson – the current Taverners President.
Lawrence Dallaglio and Paul Robin CEO of Lords Taverners talked on-stage about their respective charities and how donations help give young people a sporting chance and make a real difference to disadvantaged lives.
TV’s Nick Hancock ran the ever-popular Heads and Tails quiz and we also featured the unbelievable speed painting skills of Dave Sharp.
The 430 attending guests certainly did Liverpool proud as money raised on the night topped 2015’s event with a grand total of £56,000.
Mills Media Creative produced the entire show which featured three screens, four live cameras, a feast of lighting around the venue & a comprehensive sound set-up. We also photographed the show and our in-house team designed artwork for all the Sporting Dinner’s banners, brochures and screen shows.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the one-hour show with Sir Michael Parkinson who was interviewed on stage by his son Michael Jnr. Featuring numerous insights and hilarious clips from his 50-year career, the audience laughed heartily to Billy Connolly, Dame Edna Everage and the infamous Rod Hull & Emu. Further archive footage also included Parkinson’s most memorable interviews with Muhammed Ali.
To compliment the evening’s sporting theme, Dave Sharp speed-painted unique pictures of Lawrence Dallaglio and the world’s greatest ever boxer, the late Muhammed.
Created live on-stage, the Ali artwork was joined by an accompanying ‘Parky’ canvas and the pair of amazing portraits were auctioned on the night raising the unbelievable sum of £9,000!
The planning now begins in earnest to ensure 2017 produces an even better event and that we raise more money for two very deserving charities.
