It is only three months since the last programme was launched but the feedback and acclaim for ‘Call Accountant’ has been phenomenal – so much so that we are hard at work on a follow-up.

‘Customer Training’ is aimed directly at those looking to better understand the features of their new BT phone system through a series of on-line and on-site courses.  The new programme explains what’s on offer and also how some of the phone system’s options can help maximise business opportunities.
The programme is being created totally in-house at Mills Media and will be entirely graphics led.

The first preview of ‘Customer Training’ has already been warmly received by BT and the finished programme will be fully launched next month.

2012 has started well for us with further commissions from both UTV Media and Bebington Glass.  A great year beckons!

The awards, hosted by CallNorthWest, celebrate the very best in customer service and the event theme to reflect local quality was the aurora borealis best known fittingly as the northern lights.

The client requested an array of colour and light so Mills Media beautifully lit the Grand Room at the venue in pinks, blues and greens.  Cutting through the shimmering haze were several Clay Paky alphaspots and a glitterball that offered a touch of razzle dazzle!  The twin screen set was also softly lit in complimentary colours and Alison Hitchen from CallNorthWest was thrilled with the work of our team.

The magic of the evening was filmed live by the Mills Media camera crew and stills photography was captured both on stage and with CallNorthWest branded banners for PR.

With some five hundred guests attending, the event was a huge success and we look forward to returning to the venue once again in 2012.

Following extensive discussions with Rewinds and J Windsor, the company has commissioned the team to produce its new promotional programme.  The project will look at Rewinds expertise in the field of wind turbine repair and will be premiered at the Renewable UK exhibition later this month.  With a tight turnaround, the production crew will be working long and hard to make the deadline.

The recent production for Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network’s e-learning project has been completed and using our films, Edge Hill University is currently creating the on-line educational tool.  Based in Ormskirk, the highly regarded establishment has been so impressed with our work for MCCN, they have now commissioned Mills Media to produce a programme for one of their own e-learning projects.  Based around the manual handling of patients, the programme will be filmed at Derian House hospice in Chorley in November.

The Mills Media production team are certainly bucking the current downward trend with new productions for both Cammell Laird and ITEL already in the pipeline.

ITEL are a long-standing partner of BT, providing software solutions and training services to their customers, as well as technical training and documentation to BT Engineers.

As a promotional feature, the programme will help advertise the company’s latest call management system designed exclusively for BT. Aimed specifically at small to medium size businesses using a variety of telephone systems, CallAccountant has been BT’s customer solution for call logging and reporting for over ten years.

ITEL did not want to feature any live action in the programme so the edit is being created and produced entirely in-house using a range of animation and image software packages.

The Mills Media team is hopeful that this will be the first of several programmes to promote ITEL solutions both in the sales and training genres.

As with our previous productions for VL, these new additions will be shown at the company’s education centres across the Greater Manchester region. Shown to visiting school groups and youth organisations, the first DVD covers the Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) of residents’ residual waste. What many viewers consider to be just ‘rubbish’, can actually be treated to extract materials than can be re-used. The second programme features the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) process and how all the sorted waste (such as tins, plastic bottles, paper and aluminium) is separated and sent for recycling.

The style of both new programmes is fast-paced with fun animation, memorable live action and a bouncing music soundtrack – ideal for youngsters returning to education after a long summer of fun.

Following on from the success of the Anticipatory Care Calendar (ACC) project, we are currently shooting new and expanded drama sequences for an e-learning interactive training package.

Once again we have worked closely with the learning disabilities acting troupe, the Eastham Players.  The new scenarios will enable carers to interact on-line with real-life stories as they unfold on-screen.  The Eastham Players act out genuine stories of client/carer relationships based around specific health issues.  Different outcomes have been filmed so those taking part can see the results of the decisions they make on-screen and the subsequent crisis’ that can occur if they don’t act appropriately.  We have also filmed new introductions and presentations sequences at our studios plus a completely revised step by step guide to aid successful completion of the Anticipatory Care Calendar.

The programme has been shot in high definition by our in-house production crew and has filmed in a variety of locations across the Wirral region.

Once the edit is complete, the final sequences will be sent to the Technology Enhanced Learning team at Edge Hill University. They are designing the e-learning package in conjunction with MCCN and launch of the programme is expected later this year.

Mills Media has been editing on AVID systems since 1994 but the new Nitris suite will enable the production team to produce all programmes through a tapeless workflow system – it’s quicker, easier to manage and therefore more cost effective for clients.  Furthermore, Mills is updating the existing Final Cut Pro edit suite to compliment the entire production process.  The company is also pleased to be reducing its carbon footprint as all footage and master programmes will now be stored on media servers rather than a video tape format.

Clients need not worry though as the 6,000 tapes filmed over the past 25 years will continue to be held in the Mills Media library!

All new equipment will be available for wet hire shortly and with two on-line edit suites, Mills Media will be offering a comprehensive production facility package.
